Balloons are a great platform that students in this course treat like a “real” satellite mission. Practicing Systems Engineering in addition to learning the theory is much more fun and instructional.
Congratulations to the students involved in this night launch! Everyone went back home at 4 am. Looking forward to receiving the data they gathered, & the pictures from up there, and indeed, their Systems Engineering Management Plan and Report - which is the ultimate deliverable of the class.
How did you implement SE in the project? What tailoring choices did you have to make? How did you manage customer interfaces? How did you implement V&V? And so on. These are examples of the tasks being performed during the course. But instead of doing them only in theory, they are practiced on a real project and thus with “real world” challenges.
