We had the pleasure to welcome Prof. Lukas Winiwarter and Frederik Schulte from the University of Innsbruck (UIBK) for a visit on November 25, 2024. The day provided an exciting chance for both our teams to exchange research ideas in environmental monitoring applications and explore collaborative possibilities in AI for geoinformation extraction. Together with Qilin Zhang (TUM Professorship of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing), we discussed the potential of 3D reconstruction techniques for topographic change analysis.
Another highlight was the successful test flight of our brand-new UAV LiDAR system. We learnt a lot from their expertise and jointly collected high-resolution 3D data, creating colorized laser scanning point clouds of the Ottobrunn campus building of the Department of Aerospace and Geodesy.
You can now explore the 3D Ottobrunn campus through our online viewer – check it out!
This fruitful exchange strengthened ties between the research teams and sparked fresh ideas for future collaboration.
