In early April, we held our annual research retreat in the beautiful and historic setting of Raitenhaslach. This year, we once again had the pleasure of joining forces with the Big Geospatial Data Management group to share ideas, exchange feedback, and strengthen collaborations.
Over the course of the retreat, our PhD students and researchers presented current results and future directions, covering a wide spectrum of geospatial research topics — from generalized 4D point cloud analysis to applications in AI-driven environmental monitoring. Through interactive sessions we explored synergies between our teams and discussed exciting new directions for joint research.
To wrap up the retreat, we took a scenic walk through the Salzachdurchbruch — also known as the Salzach incision — a striking geomorphic feature near the Austrian border. Surrounded by nature and geological beauty, we reflected on our shared goals and the landscapes that continue to inspire our work.
We’re looking forward to building on the momentum from this retreat and continuing our collaborative journey!
