Last year, we supported students in their P-Seminar "City of the Future" and were able to give them an insight into the diversity of geodesy in the context of measurement campaigns and a visit to TUM.
Translated from the report of Dante Gymnasium Erfolgreicher Abschluss P-Seminars Geographie:
"From September 2021 to February 2023, the P-Seminar of the Geography Department, led by Ms. Gabriel, dealt with the question of how certain concepts of sustainable urban development could be applied to the state capital of Munich. The goal of the P-Seminar was to apply already existing, but also future concepts of sustainable urban development to a street in the direct school environment and to represent this change digitally or analogously. This was to result in various models of the future that could be exhibited at a later date.
It was also important for them to evaluate the solution approaches and the individual measures in relation to the school location in terms of their meaningfulness and feasibility and to include the expertise of external partners in their deliberations, in our case the Technical University of Munich under the direction of Agnes Weinhuber. The choice fell on Oberländerstrasse and Implerstrasse, which were captured using terrestrial photogrammetry and laser scanning and then later integrated into a 3D city model. This allowed the data to be imported into Minecraft, for example, and modified by the young people at the TU Munich. Afterwards, a 3D print model with architectural requirements was also modified so that, for example, sustainable aspects of urban development, such as vertical greening of buildings, could be represented. The recommendations of the Citizens Council of STEP 2040 Munich were also taken into account in the implementation in the model. Finally, the analog model was also scanned in 3D and could thus be transferred into augmented reality. To honor the great result, the final product was submitted to various competitions, such as the Munich Students' Competition for Urban Development 2022/23 of the City of Munich. We are looking forward to this and are already excited about the result."
