Auroras are frequent phenomena in Scandinavia during the winter months, which can also be seen from time to time in northern Germany. Rarely, these natural phenomena are visible from Bavaria. At the end of September (Night from September 24 to 25, 2023) a reddish glow (6300 Å), produced by oxygen atoms at an altitude of 200 to 500 km [1], was visible close to the horizon. Our AllSky7 cameras in southern Bavaria (Garching and Bavarian Forest), which continuously monitor the night sky for meteors and fireballs, captured this spectacle as a byproduct. The videos show the event at 10x speed.
