In cooperation with the Australian National University, the Chair of Carbon Composites held its first hybrid symposium, combining digital and face-to-face participation. With 20 presentations from industry (AFPT, Airbus, BMW, CEAD, GKN, INOMETA, SGL, VICTREX) and science (ANU, DLR, Fraunhofer, TUM), up to 185 digital and 45 invited attendees learned about the current state of the art in automated fiber placement and additive manufacturing of fiber-reinforced plastics. The new, hybrid format enabled participation from 29 countries, even under corona conditions.

The long-standing successful cooperation between Prof. Klaus Drechsler and Prof. Paul Compston led to the organization of this symposium. It shows that cooperations successfully support the development of future-oriented technologies and how university research can pave the way of a technology to industrial application.
