Presentations of current research at the 21st European Conference on Composite Materials in Nantes

Five colleagues from the Chair of Carbon Composites at the Technical University of Munich participated in the 21st European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM21) in Nantes, France, from 2-5 July 2024. We had a great exchange with researchers from all over the world about the newest findings in composites. Our team presented their research on various topics:

  • Matthias Feuchtgruber on “Investigating Residual Stresses in Large Format Additive Manufactured Structures by a Modified Crack-Compliance Method”,
  • Youssef Mraidi on “Development and Implementation of an AI-Based Inline Monitoring System for Towpreg Band Width Measurement”,
  • Alexander Seidel on “Evolution of Fatigue Damage Zones in Unidirectional Composites Utilising a Numerical Model Based on Fibre-Matrix Debonding”,
  • Jan Seiffert on “Integration of Carbon Fiber and Fiber Optical Sensors in Continuous Fiber-Reinforced Additively Manufactured Parts” and
  • Maximilian Strobel on “Investigation of Thermo Mechanical Smoothing Strategies to Achieve Vacuum Tightness on FFF-Printed Surfaces for Composite Tools”.

The proceedings can be downloaded at gem.ec-nantes.fr/en/eccm21-proceedings/. Our results can be found in Volume 3 (Jan Seiffert), 4 (Matthias Feuchtgruber) and 5 (Youssef Mraidi, Maximilian Strobel). We express our sincere appreciation to our partners and the funding agencies that made the research possible.
