Five colleagues from the Chair of Carbon Composites at the Technical University of Munich participated in the 21st European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM21) in Nantes, France, from 2-5 July 2024. We had a great exchange with researchers from all over the world about the newest findings in composites. Our team presented their research on various topics:
- Matthias Feuchtgruber on “Investigating Residual Stresses in Large Format Additive Manufactured Structures by a Modified Crack-Compliance Method”,
- Youssef Mraidi on “Development and Implementation of an AI-Based Inline Monitoring System for Towpreg Band Width Measurement”,
- Alexander Seidel on “Evolution of Fatigue Damage Zones in Unidirectional Composites Utilising a Numerical Model Based on Fibre-Matrix Debonding”,
- Jan Seiffert on “Integration of Carbon Fiber and Fiber Optical Sensors in Continuous Fiber-Reinforced Additively Manufactured Parts” and
- Maximilian Strobel on “Investigation of Thermo Mechanical Smoothing Strategies to Achieve Vacuum Tightness on FFF-Printed Surfaces for Composite Tools”.
The proceedings can be downloaded at gem.ec-nantes.fr/en/eccm21-proceedings/. Our results can be found in Volume 3 (Jan Seiffert), 4 (Matthias Feuchtgruber) and 5 (Youssef Mraidi, Maximilian Strobel). We express our sincere appreciation to our partners and the funding agencies that made the research possible.
