A new project on an inline monitoring system for the automated inspection of high-quality braids (IMoFlecht) has started at the Chair of Carbon Composites. After an integrated sensor system for the surveillance of the braiding process predominantly for textile mass-produced goods had been developed in the project InSensoFlecht, the new undertaking addresses the quality inspection of safety-critical as well as medical braided products. Besides the Chair of Carbon Composites, the project partners Barthels-Feldhoff GmbH & Co. KG and ark Industrie AG will develop new artificially intelligent methods for the required close meshed monitoring of braiding. The goals are to reduce the until then considerable manual effort in the inspection of critical braids by means of algorithmic automatization as well as to harmonize subjective inspection results.
The new project is funded by the Central Innovation Programme for small and medium-sized enterprises from the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy.
