The kick-off meeting for the CHoSe-Aviation project took place on January 26, 2024. The project named "Conformable Hydrogen Storage for Aviation: Development of Conformable Hydrogen Tanks for Efficient Integration in Aircrafts" is funded by the 6th Federal Aviation Research Programme (Germany) and is carried out in cooperation with the University of the Bundeswehr and Bauhaus Luftfahrt.
The main objective of the project is to develop LH2 tanks with a geometry that is adapted to existing installation spaces in aircraft and thus deviates from the conventional cylindrical shape. This innovative approach holds great potential for the volume-efficient storage of hydrogen in airplanes. In addition, the use of composite materials is intended to ensure that the tank meets the gravimetric requirements for aviation.
