At the Chair of Carbon Composites, the project "Material-efficient and cycle-time-optimized industrialization of 700 bar H2 pressure tanks - MaTaInH2" was successfully completed at the end of last year (December 2023).
The project aimed to develop a marketable solution for hydrogen storage for mobile applications at a nominal pressure of 700 bar through the development of a material-efficient and cycle-time-optimized production of pressure tanks. The implementation was carried out in collaboration with project partners MAHLE Filtersysteme GmbH and the Leibniz Institute for Composite Materials GmbH. The Chair of Carbon Composites focused on optimizing impregnation techniques and scaling the associated manufacturing process.
The team was able to analyze and optimize the Towpreg process in a short period, resulting in valuable insights for science. The consortium thanks the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport and the project sponsor Jülich and NOW GmbH for their coordination efforts.
