Last week, the ACHEMA trade show took place in Frankfurt/ M. as the world forum for the process industries. Manufacturers and service providers from more than 50 nations showcased their products for chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotech research and production alongside energy and environmental services. Numerous interactive sessions, forums, and presentation stages provided ample opportunities to engage with the community. With a significant focus on digitalisation and new materials development, we, as the Chair of Carbon Composites, were also present at ACHEMA.
Our colleague and Topic Lead for AI, Digitalisation and Online Process Monitoring, Alexander Seidel, was invited to present the results of our project "SensoTwin – Sensor-integrated Digital Twin for High-Performance FRP Applications" at the Siemens Digital Innovation Stage on Tuesday, 11 June 2024. In the session "Digitalization of Advanced Materials: Highlights of the BMBF Research Initiative MaterialDigital and European Activities", hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and VDI, we presented a structural digital twin of wind turbine rotor blades and gave an outlook, on how digitalisation of materials sciences can benefit academia and the industry.
We want to thank the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research for funding the project SensoTwin under the funding code 13XP5121 and allowing us to present our results. We also thank VDI for organising the events and the community for the vivid exchange. We look forward to further shaping the future of digitising materials sciences with all our partners.
