The course Geoinformation Systems 1 is part of several modules of study programs at the Weihenstephan campus.
Geoinformation Systems 1 teaches the following basic concepts and applications of geoinformatics:
- Fundamentals of geoinformatics
- Geodetic reference systems and GIS
- Geodata
- Data modeling and GIS data models
- Geodatabases
- GIS analyses
- Web GIS
Learning Outcomes
After attending the course, students will be able to
- remember and understand basic geoinformatics terms,
- recognize the benefits of GIS for different application areas,
- understand basic concepts and paradigms for modeling and analyzing 2D geodata using GIS and apply them to solve spatial problems,
- apply basic concepts for object-based analysis of 2D geodata in a specific GIS software
