Albert Godfrind and Hans Viehmann from the company ORACLE visited the Chair of Geoinformatics for a workshop with the developer team of the Open Source 3D geodatabase 3DCityDB today. Albert Godfrind is one of the fathers of the Spatial Extension of the ORACLE database management system. Hans Viehmann is Product Manager EMEA at ORACLE Germany. We had very fruitful discussions on database and query optimizations as well as on future development plans. 3DCityDB runs on different database management systems. It makes special use of the Spatial and Graph capabilities of ORACLE Database Enterprise and Locator. 3DCityDB is jointly developed by the Chair of Geoinformatics, TU Munich, and the companies virtualcitySYSTEMS, Berlin, and M.O.S.S., Taufkirchen.
