The conference sought to explore quicker solutions based on smart-technologies to help overcome the challenges that the Eastern Africa region faces, and attracter presentations from different disciplines in the use, management and ownership of land in rural and urban areas.
During the conference book chapters of the upcoming publication Responsible and Smart Land Management Interventions in Africa were presented and discussed, with the contribution of authors from Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya and Nigeria. The activity was complemented with an excursion to Jozani Forest. Prof. Jaap Zevenbergen (from ITC - University of Twente), Prof. Andreas Hendricks (from Universität der Bundeswehr München), Prof. Walter de Vries, Dr. Uchendu Chigbu, and Dr. Pamela Durán Díaz conducted the event.
Moreover, Prof. de Vries and Dr. Duran attended the EGM of the Network of Excellence on Land Governance in Africa in the context of the conference.
