Luca Romanello is a Mechatronics Engineer currently pursuing a PhD in the eAviation group at the Department of Aerospace and Geodesy in TUM, where he is being supervised by Prof. Armanini. With a BSc in Mechanical Engineering (2018) and a MSc in Mechatronics Engineering (2020) earned from Politecnico di Torino, Luca also has experience as a visiting researcher at California State University Los Angeles in 2020.
His research focuses on facilitating freshwater environmental sensing with aerial-aquatic vehicles. His work involves designing and developing aerial aquatic vehicles, starting from conceptual design to mechanical design, electronics and software development, and final platform testing.
Luca has gained experience during a 1.5-year period at the Aerial Robotics Lab of Imperial College London, under the guidance of Prof. Kovac. Apart from his academic pursuits, he enjoys calisthenics, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and reading.
Luca is currently involved in the research projects SailMAV, aquaMAV, Flapping Hydrofoils and Interchangeable pods for multirotor drones. https://www.asg.ed.tum.de/en/eav/research/current-projects/
